Grandmaster
Grandmaster Daniel Thornton, a 7th Degree Black Belt, brings over 40 years of experience in Taekwondo, including more than 30 years dedicated to teaching and coaching. As the current Head Coach of Taekwondo BC, he has also served as the Secretary General of Taekwondo BC and as a Board Member of Taekwondo Canada. A valued member of the National Coaching Pool, Grandmaster Thornton has been a Team Canada Coach for over a decade. Under his exceptional leadership, Vortex Taekwondo has achieved outstanding success on the competitive stage, producing over 20 National Champions. Most recently, he had the distinguished honor of representing Canada at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he coached Josipa Kafadar.

Master Shane Britton, a 4th Degree Black Belt, brings over 6 years of teaching experience and excels in working with children, demonstrating exceptional leadership skills. As both a dedicated assistant instructor and one of the nation’s premier competitors, Master Shane has distinguished himself as a five-time national champion. He has proudly represented Canada at both the Pan-American Championships and the World Championships, showcasing his outstanding skill and dedication to Taekwondo.
